Dr Melissa Davidson – Specialist Physiotherapist in Pelvic Health

Are you experiencing pelvic health issues such as incontinence, prolapse, sexual dysfunction, or pain? Or are you in the childbearing year and needing help with some of the joys of pregnancy and delivery such as pelvic girdle pain, perineum care, and return to exercise? I can help you.

I am currently the only Specialist Physiotherapist in Pelvic Health registered with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board.  This is my speciality, this is my passion. I graduated in 1990, and since then I have worked hard to extend my knowledge and skills in women’s and men’s health.

People ask me: “Why do you want to work in this field, its well..….pretty… ummm…gross”.

I don’t see that. I see people who are suffering. People I can help. People, who with evidence based treatment, have marked improvements in their health and function, and get their life and dignity back.

That’s why I do this. That’s why I got my Masters in Pelvic Health from the University of Melbourne, and my PhD from the Auckland Bioengineering Institute researching the pelvic floor. To enable me to help people by providing excellent treatment to patients, and training other health professionals in the pelvic health field.
